another day, another trip
This time it was Hillsborough. We spent the morning and early afternoon checking out antique shops. Lydia and Hannah found themselves a consignment shop and had a big time. I think Lydia took some pictures, but I was having so much fun I forgot to (hence the google image posted above). We ended up at Southpoint, where I bought Hannah a new white shirt (because Frank wee-weed on her other one). Joy called us while we were on the way home, so it was kind of like she was with us for a while. All in all, it was a great day. Now I just need a suggestion for the next small town to visit. Any ideas?Labels: friends, fun, travels
v-day
Happy Valentines' Day everybody! I think I'm going to go home, eat some chocolate, and either watch a movie with a wedding at the end, or one with a body count. I can't decide what kind of mood I'm in...

two drives
Saturday was a busy day. I was waiting for Rachael to post the morning activities...but she's had two and a half days. We worked cows. She and John rode the horses and helped with the round up. I had the gator and Max. It went pretty well until half the herd broke away and ran across the pasture. We managed to get them all except a few mama cows (which we didn't need) and one bull calf. I guess he knew what was coming. Mike got promoted to "Steermaker". I hear he did very well... I left after the roundup and Hannah and I drove to lovely, quaint Warrenton. NC. We drove around looking at the neat old houses, browsed through antique & junk shops, and had lunch at a great local diner. We even broke down and got pie for dessert. All in all a great day.Still no official office at the new job. The landlord has cleaned most of the junk out of my soon-to-be office, but I won't have a computer or phone for another few days. It's just as well. I don't quite know enough about HSAs and HDHPs yet to be much good to anyone...

unemployment
I spent the first few days this week being "officially unemployed," which was great. I got to sleep in, ride horses, and get thrown off of said horse. Let's just say Aari wasn't crazy about the cows. I hit the saddle horn as I made my dismount. There's a HUGE green and purple bruise in an undisclosed location.
In other news, I started my new job today. I was sad to leave the cabinet shop, but God has provided an awesome opportunity. I an now employed by an independent insurance firm that specializes in health insurance and HSAs for small to medium-sized companies. I don't have an office yet...so I'm using the desk of whoever isn't here at the time. I have a legal pad, a pen, and an email address. But hey...we all start somewhere. Hopefully by this time next week I'll be set up properly.
I think that's all of the exciting news so far. I'll keep you posted...
