We're making the final push towards Christmas. 7th Grade Band was a hit at the church Christmas Party. Our C&C Caroling/Christmas Party is tomorrow night...which means I'll be spending this evening at the grocery store and in the kitchen. I'm planning to make some sausage balls and peanut butter balls, and something else...I just need a bit of inspiration. I also need to go buy fleece to make a tie blanket to take to the nursing home when we go caroling on Friday night. John and I are going shopping Thursday. We have a few more things to get, and two more presents to make, and then we'll be done. Oozey completely climbed the Christmas tree Sunday morning. There were ornaments on the floor that had been hanging on the top branches. This brings our broken ornament tally to 29.Hannah has caught the crud, and I've been sneezing just enough this morning to start being nervous about the possibility of being sick at Christmas. If I start hitting the OJ now, I may be able to ward off a cold. Of course, if I overload on OJ, I'll have a fever blister for Christmas. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place...
Our doorbell rang at 11:00pm last night. I'd been in bed for half an hour. The murderer was back. I grabbed my Beretta and headed to my bathroom, thinking I could peek out my closet window and see who was on the porch. As I ducked into the water closet, I saw the shadow of a very large man walk by the window. I panicked.I silently left my bedroom and low-crawled to the phone in the kitchen. I could see the lights of a car parked on the road in front of the house. I frantically dialed and asked - no - told Daddy to come over and check it all out. I ran up to Hannah's room and we locked ourselves in. As we waited for Daddy to come, the car left. He checked all around the house and everything seemed to be OK. We asked him to sleep on the couch. I still can't believe he stayed. I wasn't about to sleep by myself after all of that, so Hannah let me sleep with her. She didn't even put up a fight. We locked ourselves in her room with the phone and the Beretta. Oozey and Frank were a little upset that we were having a slumber party and they weren't invited. I think I need to turn the unfinished bonus room into a panic room. So here's what I propose: There are enough big burly guys in our C&C group that everyone can do one night of guard duty a week. The couch is really comfortable...I promise. Just let me know which night you want...
You know that theory that says pets and their owners tend to look more alike over time?I give you Exhibit A (note the squinty left eyes):If anyone is still keeping track out there, there 4 ornaments were broken over the weekend. That brings us to 23...

Pearl Harbor Day
...lest we forget...
Look what my wonderful roomie brought me last night. I never knew such a wonderful thing existed. It's some of the best hot chocolate I've ever had. On top of that, the container is too cute. Like my Aunt Lois, I would have bought it just for the container, regardless of what's inside. I have this feeling that I'm going to have to give eggnog its own tag on the blog before Christmas is over.In other news, there were no broken ornaments when I got up this morning. However, one of my small stuffed reindeer was in a heap on the kitchen floor. He had been perched on the top shelf of the bookcases. Hmmm...
Here's what I walked in to when I got home from work on Friday. This brings our broken ornament count to 13. I'm canceling Christmas for two little kitties:
I spent Saturday camped out in front of the TV watching Virgina Tech beat Boston College in the ACC Championship. I was cheering for VA Tech. I still say there is no reason BC should be in the ACC. We saw "My Fair Lady" yesterday. It was great! The best part was the two little old ladies we overheard in the row behind us. The exchange went something like this:
"Who played Henry Higgins in the movie?"
"No he didn't. He was in 'Doctor Zhivago.'"
After the show, Hannah had to swing by the Krispy Kreme for a doughnut, and I had to swing by the Cookout for an eggnog milkshake, since it's December now and they only have them on the menu in December. In other news...I knocked off J in Fantasy Football. Many thanks to Justin who managed my team while I was at the theatre. You're all welcome...
