the rain dance

It seems that we have a new rain-prayer in the group. While Hannah's rain prayers tend to be answered IMMEDIATELY; Tommy's rain prayer yielded both the quality and the quantity that we so desperately needed. Praise God for the rain!

On a lighter note, I found the picture above today and just love it. It's a rainy street in Florence. Makes me want to go back so badly I can't stand it.

aloha!

Congratulations to Jamie and Lt. Caleb who have FINALLY arrived at their very own home in beautiful Hawaii! Keep us posted with what's going on, and get ready for company...I'm pricing plane tickets right now.

All this talk of Hawaii is making me want a fruity frozen drink...

mini-vacation

I sat on the beach for most of the day yesterday. I'm not bronze yet, but well on my way. There are, however, a few spots that I completely missed putting sunscreen on. They're a little pink, but not completely unbearable. There were hardly any people on the beach. I also had ice cream for lunch and supper.The weather was perfect. A little cloudy, not too hot, and a nice breeze. The ocean was still too cold to get in...but this is just the first in a series of trips down I-40 this summer.

I'm afraid that I might be completely useless at work today...

parched

I forgot to take my contacts out last night. I got my shower earlier than usual, so I left them in to watch TV. Only, I was so tired when my shows went off, I just climbed right into bed. Didn't even realize until my eyes didn't want to open this morning. If I had better sense, I would have taken them out and worn my glasses today. But I don't.

Good thing I live with an eye-care professional. If I develop the dreaded eye fungus, I'll make her fix it. : )

click

SIDE NOTE: Ann Coulter's column today is EXCELLENT. I suggest that all of you click on that link over there and read it thoroughly!

the tirade continues

I think I saw every one of those people at the Walmart this morning. Driving their carts down the wrong side of the aisle. Stopping and staring at something, while completely blocking the aisle, making you crash your cart into the metal shelves to avoid hitting them. Cutting in front of you in line and saying "oh excuse me!" so innocently. Oblivious idiots. That's what they are.

On a lighter note, Alias is returning tonight. I have reason to believe that Irina will return, which is great. She always was my favorite character. And wasn't American Idol great last night? They just don't write music like that anymore! OK...I seriously have a problem with TV...

the aftermath

empty

Death cannot keep its Prey, Jesus my Savior;
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

waiting

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior;
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!

thievery

Dateline 4/13/2006: We had a break-in last night. Someone broke into one of our big delivery trucks last night and stole about $2,000.00 worth of tools. When I got here this morning, the Deputy and a CSI officer were dusting the truck for prints. It was CSI:Garner. They found fingerprints on the truck, and apparently the geniuses who broke in dropped an empty cigarette packet, because there were fingerprints all over it, and no one here smokes. It's just a matter of time before the thieves get caught.

I knew I should have worn my Batman shirt today...

And if anyone is wondering where I am this afternoon, let me refer you here.

tee time

Ode to Golf
by Carroll

With little white balls and shoes with a stripe
A bag full of clubs and tees with a spike;
His truck pulls away at half past one
Another hour or so, and with work I'll be done.
Till then it's just blogging to fill up my time;
Or maybe some Mario Brothers online.
How fortunate, lucky, and blessed I must be
To have a boss so crazy about golf as he.

pencils down

While discussing current events last night, we began to wonder about the US Citizenship test. How difficult is it? Would I pass if I had to take it today? How well did I pay attention in middle school social studies? (I think I paid attention pretty well since Hannah only sat behind me in English...) I challenge all of you: take the test.

No pressure...but I got 10 out of 10. And I have witnesses.

just a game

So I spent way too much time and money playing Time Crisis last night. I really think it might be one of the best games ever. I do enjoy blowing the bad guys away! Thanks to those of you who humored me and played. I'm really thinking about getting one of these for the "pool hall." They're only $8995.00. Plus shipping. They might be a little cheaper on eBay...

Yeah...maybe there is a better way to spend my money...

flower

Joy,

You left your cow skull on my back steps again. I would bring it to you, but I don't want to touch it. It's creeping me out.

C

come rain or come shine

Tommy, I dedicate this one to you...

Know Where Your Clothes Are?

This whole Duke lacrosse team rape story is getting on my nerves. Of course, if someone was raped, then the offenders need to be caught and punished accordingly. My problem with the situation is twofold:

1 - To the media and everyone else trying to get on TV: STOP MAKING THIS ABOUT RACE. I'm sick of hearing about the white, male, Ivy-leaguers (they're actually using that terminology) beating up on a poor, disadvantaged student from a historically black college that, through no fault of her own, was reduced to stripping to pay her bills. That brings me to my second point...

2 - It is never the girl's fault when she gets raped. HOWEVER, there are some specific actions one can take to significantly decrease the chances of being raped. First and foremost...KEEP YOUR CLOTHES ON! (And yes, it's probably not a good idea to be in a room full of hormonally charged, drunken college students.) Let's not forget, this girl was a stripper. She was being paid to dance around naked. No good is going to come from that.

In conclusion, boys - be respectable and treat women the way you would want your mother or sister treated. Girls - KEEP YOUR BRITCHES ON.

So Long, Herb

See ya around.
