emporia

Last week, Jimmy asked me to ride with him to Virginia...so I went. We got to go to Emporia, Lawrenceville, Victoria, and South Boston. I'd never been to any of them, so it was pretty fun. I took this in Emporia, which is quite lovely once you get about a mile away from I-95.

We had lunch in Victoria, which had a great restaurant called the Breadcrumb Cafe. I'm pretty sure that the grilled chicken panini that I had is in my top three "greatest sandwiches of all time." The cafe was in a storefront that started as a pharmacy, then was converted to a Greyhound station. Since I'm pretty sure Greyhound hasn't run through there in 40 years or so, it's now a restaurant. There were also quite a few antique shops around. That's always a plus.

Other than that, nothing much going on. We're in the midst of VBS (just like EVERY other church in the county). We had a great time last night. It hasn't been quite so hot, so that's definitely a blessing! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go hydrate...

sunbeam

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
To shine for Him each day;
In every way try to please Him,
At home, at school, at play.

Jesus wants me to be loving,
And kind to all I see;
Showing how pleasant and happy
His little one can be.

I will ask Jesus to help me
To keep my heart from sin,
Ever reflecting His goodness,
And always shine for Him.

I’ll be a sunbeam for Jesus;
I can if I but try;
Serving Him moment by moment,
Then live with Him on high.

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I’ll be a sunbeam for Him.

Ahhh...June 13th. Happy 28th Hannah!

(I'm bringing you some birthday chicken broth. Maybe I can find a floating candle to put in it...)

ernesto

I'm excited to introduce a new feature here at Gallblabber. Meet Ernesto. Hannah found her somewhere (a Ross, I think) for $4. Unable to resist that face, she brought her home and named her before she realized that he was a she. Ernesto (perhaps Ernestine?) started out on the desk in the den.

This past week, I discovered her on the table outside my bedroom.

I'm told that she will be in a new spot every week. I'll keep you posted. I can confidently tell you that the only place you won't find her is the floor...because Frank keeps trying to sniff her bottom. I'm sending him to cotillion in the fall...
