drugged

Once again, I must report that there is no pain a Vicodin can not cure. After eating entirely too much Chinese food Friday night, I developed the worst stomach ache I have ever had in my life. It lasted for two whole days, and only went away when I popped the precious white pill. Since I'm at work today and have to drive and all, I have scaled back to 4 Advil...which are OK...but they leave a little bit of the ache.

Long story short: If you don't have to get up early, pop the prescription drugs and relax. It makes for a nice evening.

tumble

Thought for the Day:

Some people are like Slinkies...They aren't really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

pesto

Say it isn't so!

Apparently there was some bad weather in Italy and it knocked out most of the basil crop that they use to make pesto...one of my favorite Italian dishes, second only to gelato (which is really a dessert...but still the best EVER!).

global warming?

My aunt Lois sent me this picture today. I've never really believed in global warming, but this newly discovered evidence may get me to rethink my position...

Parker

My best friend Jennifer is a mommy! Yesterday I got to meet baby Parker. He came 3 weeks early, while we were at the beach. I'm still looking for just the right NC State onesie to get him...

Congratulations Jennifer and Cory!

first

I was driving down Yates Mill Pond road this morning when I saw it...and my heart leapt. The first yellow leaf fell off a tree. My thoughts immediately turned to Saturday afternoon football games, cool breezes, crunchy leaves, brunswick stew, and FAIR FOOD! I can't wait...fall is my favorite time of year (OK...so it's a tie with winter...)

It's too bad that the thermometer is reading 90 degrees right now. Maybe I should just crank the air conditioner, put on a long-sleeved shirt, and find some NFL preseason. At this point it's the best I can do.

Hannah and I have reverted to third grade. Guess which one's real...

Wuga

Sad news. Wuga passed away this morning. She was 15, which I guess is pretty old for a kitty. I've had her since I was 11. Farewell, poofy kitty. The back porch won't be the same without you.

back to reality

What a fun week at the beach. I didn't get as bronze as I would have liked, but I didn't burn either, so I suppose I'm better off. The whole crew now knows the depths of my OCD. Who knew that you can, in fact, get to Oak Island via Myrtle Beach? Thanks to "Shark Week" on the Discovery Channel, I watched more shark documentaries than I care to admit, yet I still can't distinguish a bull shark from a great white. Good thing I know someone who has some shark books...

We certainly missed Sgt. John, but I think he had more fun defending the border (and getting himself into the paper 3 times).

All in all, it was a good vacation. I truly learned to appreciate the frozen burrito. Where else can you take a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day, stay up playing (and co-winning) Monopoly til 2:00 am, take a stroll on the pier at midnight, and hear all kinds of noises as you lay in bed trying to sleep. (that reminds me...Happy Birthday Rachael!)

OH - before I forget...someone's purple underwear got put in with my clean laundry. It's at my house if the owner wants to come claim it. And Joy, your blue clog-thingies are in my car.

We'll have to do it again. It really says a lot about this crowd that we all lived together for a week and are still on speaking terms. Sort of.

Maybe next year the ceiling in the boys' room won't leak...but what is a trip to the beach without some sort of problem with the house?
