Merry Christmas!

I decided to post this...just in case anyone out there hadn't seen Hannah's Christmas card yet. This picture just makes me merry. We had a wonderful time will all of the cousins in VA. Pictures to come...

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas...spend some time enjoying the gifts that can't be found under a tree!

Butter Bar

Congratulations to 2LT John! Mama and I got to pin his bars on today...and I think we did well. He was sworn in as an officer in the US Army; wearing Granddaddy's US pins and Daddy's Armor insignia. It was a special day. Thanks to everyone who came...it meant a lot!

shopping

I got about half of my Christmas shopping done this afternoon. I should get extra points because I did said shopping in Cary...among the throngs of Yankee imports. (good thing I wore my Red Sox t-shirt today...it allowed me to blend in!) I gladly drove out of that madness muttering to myself that they can't nuke that place soon enough.

AND - I only bought myself one thing...not too bad!

Ice Princesses

So I went to see Disney Princesses on Ice on Saturday with Hannah, Lydia, and the gang. I'd never been to anything like it before, and it was a lot of fun! As a person who has a BS in Marketing, I think that the Disney people that decided to break off the princesses into their own brand are brilliant. I've never seen so many little girls wearing princess dresses (all Disney-branded, of course) and so many parents shelling out cash for $10 princess snow cones, $30 princess t-shirts, and $45 stuffed animal princess sidekicks. Genius.

I will say that the highlight of my day was discovering that Kimberly knows the NC State logo. My indoctrination sessions are finally starting to pay off...I think we have another Wolfpack fan in the making.

After the show was over, I frantically drove over to Mordecai to meet Rachael and Joy for the Christmas tours. I did get suckered into reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas," but after 3 or 4 tours, we opted to read the read the real Christmas story from the Bible (since we had a captive audience and people need to hear about Jesus.). Rach did end up sharing the reading...which was good, because I was getting tongue-tied on all the "thees', "thous", "whilsts", and so forth of the King James translation. We sang "Silent Night" about 500 times...and "whilst" it is a beautiful song, I don't care if I hear it again for at least 2 months. We swung by the Cook Out for an eggnog milkshake on the way home, which made everything better.

Mmmm...eggnog...
