trapped in my own trap

You know that feeling when you have a lot going on, and work is a little crazy, and you have a lot of random errands to run and things to do; and you have to finish your Halloween costume, and decide if and when you're throwing a party, and plan for all that; then you have to figure out what you're doing this weekend and how you're gonna fit everything in; and you have to decide what to fix for a covered-dish thing on Monday; then you realize that Christmas is 2 months from today and you haven't bought the first gift yet; and somewhere in there you need to clean out your clothes and make some order in your room...all the while STILL waiting for your house permit to come back?

I hate that feeling.

deep fried

Headed to the NC State Fair tonight. I could say that I was going to ride rides, or see the livestock, or to play games, but let's be honest...I'm going to eat till my stomach explodes.

UPDATE: Rachael and I each ate a giant grilled chicken pita, shared a bloomin' onion, ate a fried Snickers/Milky Way, and had NC State ice cream (I had chocolate, she had the cherry vanilla). Elapsed time: 1 hour, 14 minutes.

cheap gas

We had a great time with Aunt Martha and Uncle Dan in Virginia. We slept in on Saturday, spent some time watching Trading Spaces and What Not to Wear, went to the Folk Festival (which was dumb), left the Folk Festival and went shopping and bought out the stores instead, and finally made it over to the reenactment in time for the "battle" on Sunday (where we got to see a bald eagle circling over the action!) Hannah also wants a poodle now.

Lots of fun, didn't want to come home, dragging at work today because I stayed up too late last night. I think that sums it up nicely.

Oh...my favorite thing about Virginia? I haven't found gas this cheap since I was in college.

on the road again

Heading to Virginia this weekend. I might get crazy and go to a reenactment or something. I'm mainly hoping that we get to go eat at Bottoms Up...the single greatest hole-in-the-wall pizza joint EVER. I'm also hoping that the trees along I-85 have started changing...that will make for a bee-yoo-ti-ful (as Lydia would say) drive.

Oozey is staying home alone this weekend...and she has been specifically told that she is not allowed to have a party...so if Claude, Dump, and Tully act like they're headed out on Saturday night, make them stay home!

I guess there's nothing left to say, except "Go Rachael and Cole!" (we'll expect to see the string of blue ribbons when we get home.)

haze

Someone, somewhere not too far from here, is burning leaves. There's a smoke hanging in the air and making the whole street hazy. Going outside makes me sneeze. I wish the wind would shift.

Ahhh...fall.

UPDATE: Sherriff's deputy just came by. They can't seem to figure out who's got the fire going, but there gonna keep looking.

boo!

Oozey scared the crap out of me the other night. I came out of the bathroom and opened the door to the linen closet to put my dirty clothes in the hamper, and when I looked up - there she was! The door had been almost closed...so it didn't occur to me that there might be a kitty in there. So when she did it again last night, I knew I had to take a picture so you all could see.

Crazy cat...

Oh...and everyone check out my new blog that documents the house progress. The link is over on the right...

bunny slippers

The only thing better than watching cartoons on Saturday morning is wearing bunny slippers while watching cartoons on Saturday morning. It finally got cold enough to break them out this weekend. I know I'm lazy, but sometimes it sure is nice to sleep til 10:00 and then sit around and be a bum til noon.

Speaking of cartoons, I sure wish they'd put some good cartoons on. Like Looney Tunes, or Smurfs, or Garfield. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
