Nos Vemos, John Juan

So Sgt. John has left to spend his two week Annual Training guarding the border in Yuma, AZ. Before he left, he went over some of the basic tasks he will be performing...

1) Stopping and searching anyone crossing the border.
"Hey...you look like an illegal alien..."

2) Sending home anyone caught trying to cross the border illegally.
"You heard me. Get back to your taco stand."

3) Infiltrating their ranks by going undercover.
(OK - so I made that one up)

If you want a real glimspe of what he'll be facing, click here.

And poor little Oozey is upset that her boyfriend has deserted her. She's been sitting on her Moo and pining for him since he left...

major surgery

Baby Oozey has been dropped off for her doctor's appointment. I had to explain 3 times that yes, her name is "Oozey" and no, I didn't name her that. She made friends with a 9 month old yellow lab named Stella while we were waiting in line. She won't be up to much company tonight, but she will be accepting short visits, cards, flowers, and balloons any time after 10:00 tomorrow. I have to remember to get some Jello and ice cream on the way to pick her up...

beaten

After 3+ weeks, I have beaten Hannah Carson's top Tetris score. I scored in the neighborhood of 443,000. That's right...go ahead and be impressed.

please pass the Germ-X

I got made fun of because I didn't want to touch the monkey bars, due to the fact that there are all kinds of wierd germs and gross crawly things on them. Turns out I was right...

crawly

So I was pulling out of the parking lot at work, and swung around to pick up the mail. I opened the door, and dropped several letters into my lap. That's when the ants scurried everywhere. I couldn't get my door open and get the mail out of my lap and car quickly enough. They were all over! I looked into the mailbox, and they are building a mansion in the back. I keep waiting for them to walk into the shop to order some cabinets.

Long story short - I feel crawly. It's a good thing I know some people in the ant-killing business...

what we do at work

Just thought you'd like to see some of the stuff we do around here. This is a bookcase that one of the guys built for one of our million-dollar-house clients.

First, the piece is built and dyed red (which I think is kinda cool by itself...)

Then, the piece is sealed and painted black...which is also gorgeous...

Then they do the rub-through...sanding away some of the black to distress the piece, leaving a finish like you see below.

Isn't that cool?!?

The Glorious Fourth

It was only fitting that we spend Independence Day at the White House. Batgirl made an appearance, and an all out water gun fight ensued. We may have been crammed in the pool like a bunch of sardines, but it sure was a nice way to cool off in 90+ degree weather!

Independence Day

Happy 4th of July!
